Three witf journalists to host public issue forums

witf journalists Scott Detrow, Scott LaMar and Craig Layne are moderating or hosting public forums on three of Pennsylvania’s most important topics on October 17, October 21 and November 1st. Their participation is part of witf’s commitment to encouraging thoughtful discussion on public issues.

On October 17, witf and StateImpact: Pennsylvania reporter Scott Detrow will host the Economic State of the State Address featuring Alan Walker, Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development. The event, presented by the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC, will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg at 7:30 a.m. Secretary Walker will discuss Pennsylvania’s business climate and take questions from the audience.

Craig Layne, witf’s Morning Edition host and reporter, will moderate the Mid Atlantic BX’s Marcellus Shale Economic Development Summit, a panel discussion by and for those in the construction trades. The panel and conference are scheduled for October 21st at 8:30 am at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill. The panel will focus on the impact of Marcellus Shale in reference to infrastructure, development, construction and job growth. Panelists will represent the natural gas industry, township supervisors, the American Petroleum Institute (API), and legal and engineering experts.

The State of the City in Pennsylvania, a panel discussion presented by the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC, will be moderated by Scott LaMar, host of Radio Smart Talk on witf. The event, at the Hilton Harrisburg at 7:30 am on November 1st, will feature Mayor Linda Thompson (Harrisburg) and two other Commonwealth mayors (to be confirmed).
